Breads are basically made from combination of flour and water. Homemade breads are perfect for breakfast.
This homemade bread is delicious and fluffy with a soft texture in the center and crunchy crust. Everyone should try atleast once to make fresh home baked bread.
You can make sandwiches, bread pudding, bread poha from this bread or simply toast the bread and enjoy with a cup of tea or coffee.
2 cups of Bread flour or All Purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp of Yeast
2 tbsp of vegetable oil or unsalted butter or margarine or vegetable shortening (melted)
1/2 cup of Warm Water
1/8 cup of lukewarm milk
1/8 cup of dry milk powder
1 tbsp of Sugar
1 tsp of Salt
1) In a bowl, add warm water, milk, sugar, yeast and butter. Mix roughly and let it stand for few minutes so that yeast can activate.
2)In another big bowl, take flour, milk powder,salt and the yeast mixture prepared in above step. Knead the dough for few minutes until it turns smooth.
3)Place the dough in a greased bowl and coat the dough with oil lightly.
4)Cover the bowl with a plastic wrap(or a kitchen cloth) and put the covered bowl in a warm place for about 1-2 hours or until the dough is doubled in size.
5)When the dough rises, grease a 9X5 ” loaf pan either with butter or with oil.
6)Take out the risen dough and punch it down lightly. Now form the dough into a log shape and place it in the greased loaf pan with the seam side down.
7)Cover the loaf pan with cloth and place it again in a warm place until the dough is doubled again in size.
8)Preheat the oven at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 35 to 40 minutes or until slightly golden brown. Loaf may need to be covered with a aluminium foil to prevent excess browning of the bread.
9)Once baked, cool the loaf on the wire rack and apply butter on the top side of the loaf.
